2022 Residencies

Designed for advanced dancers with a strong foundation of technique and performance skills. 

Sam Weber Residency

Wednesday, June 8- Friday, June 10. 

  • Wednesday and Thursday sessions will run from 5:00-8:30pm with a “working break” from 6:30-7:00pm. During this break, dancers will participate in a lecture/discussion with Sam. 

  • The Friday session will run from 9:30am-12:00pm. 

  • Total cost $275

 

Requirements:

1. Dancers must be at least 14 years old and advanced in tap technique.

2. Dancers must submit a paper application HERE.

3. A video audition must be submitted no later than 11:59pm EST on February 16, 2022. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4. Videos must be sent to ncrtf@ncyte.org via link (Vimeo, YouTube, Google Drive, Dropbox).

5. Selected dancers will be notified by February 20, 2022.

 

 


 

Dianne Walker Residency

Thursday, June 9- Sunday, June 12.

Dianne will be teaching Leon Collins’s Routine 2. These classes will move at a fast pace and are intended for advanced dancers with strong technique who are accustomed to picking up choreography quickly. 

  • Thursday 2-4pm

  • Friday 4-6pm

  • Saturday 2:30-4:30pm

  • Sunday 10:30am-12:30pm

  • Total cost $225

 

Requirements:

1. Per Dianne’s request, all dancers must be fully vaccinated (including booster shot). Please note that this is different from the festival’s requirements (i.e. vaccination OR negative test). A negative test is not an option for this specific residency.

2. Dancers must be at least 16 years old.

3. Dancers younger than 16 can apply with a letter of recommendation from their tap instructor, sent to ncrtf@ncyte.org.

4. All dancers must submit a paper application HERE.

5. All dancers must submit a video audition no later than 11:59pm EST on February 16, 2022. ​

6. Videos must be sent to ncrtf@ncyte.org via link (Vimeo, YouTube, Google Drive, Dropbox).

7. Selected dancers will be notified by February 20, 2022.

Per Sam’s request, this video should include:

  • Technique exercises

  • Technique in the context of choreography, especially in choreography created by the dancers themselves. 3-4 minutes total. Can be from multiple pieces. For example, 2 pieces of choreography that add up to no more than 4 minutes can be used. 

  • Please film this video in a private setting. We cannot accept videos of performances, competitions, etc.

  • 32 bars of improvisation

This video should include:

  • Technique exercises
